This Independence Day .... Ben 10 Vs Bhagat Singh only on Cartoon Network

Dar All,

I still remember ..... That day ...

I was in class 4th (in Kannada Gandu Makkala Shale No 1 ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಂಡು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಶಾಲೆ ನಂ 1 )... Next day was the Independence Day & I was supposed to read a poem written & Composed my mother Anasuya...
I memorized the entire Poem more than 20 times .... My mom explained me each & every concept .... What was Independence, who were British, who were freedom fighters.... what did British do to the freedom fighters..... First time in my life I got the feeling of Patriotism flowing in my entire body....
Next day I delivered the poem in front of the whole school … had goose bumps ….. felt straggly emotional … had tears in my eyes …. Was a strange feeling but …. Was surely a great feeling of patriotism ….
The Poem was a simple one….

I go through the same feeling every time I hear / say Jana Gana Mana ….. Vane Mataram …..
May be that’s the reason I joined NCC and was truly a great experience ….. I don’t know why I missed out Joining Air force or Army …..

During my NCC Days we had this NCC Anthem ….. Ham Sab Bhaaratiyan hai ….. apani manzil eak hai …… wow … what a song …… one really feels the anektha me ektha while singing it …
I also remember the Independence Day when I was reporting to the Tahasildar of my City …. When he came to receive the Salute by the NCC cadets …..

I remember every moment of that day when I was in front of the crowd of the entire city …. My cadets lined up behind me and I ….. march fasted straight to the Tahasildar and screamed like an Army Commander … “ Pachas NCC ke javan salaami ke liye haazir hai shreeman ……. The firmness & the loudness in my voice stunned my own NCC head and all other guests on the dias ….. I was full of patriotic feeling in every atom of my body ….. I got so much carried away that ….. the way I walked & delivered my order …. People thought like it was in Army itself …. My eyes become blurr but thank god I didn’t get choked ….. I could give the Salame Shastr order to the flag and took my cadets for a march fast ……

Even today the feeling of that day is still afresh in my mind ……
I feel this whenever I listen to any of the patriotic songs like , Apni Azadi ko hum har giz mita sakate nahi…. Sar katasakte hai lekin sar zuka sakte nahin, nanha munna rahi hun .. desh ka sipahi hun … bolo mere sang Jai Hind Jai Hind ….
I remember my Engineering days….. when on Aug 15 along with Gopal …. Our whole day goes in listening to the patriotic songs on radio , listening to the Border Movie cassette he had … listening to our favorite dialogue … when Sunny deol screams at Paki Army Major that Gandi naali ki paidaish, …… “ Hum hi hum hai to kya hum hai” “Jung mar ke nahi jeeti jaati …. Maar ke jeeti jaati hai”

Among all the feelings Desh Bhakti , patriotism feeling is the best I can say ….
I was wondering why goose bumps and a feeling of high during such feelings …. Here is what I could collect …

The reason for all these responses is the subconscious release of a stress hormone called adrenaline. Adrenaline, which in humans is produced in two small beanlike glands that sit atop the kidneys, not only causes the contraction of skin muscles but also influences many other body reactions. In animals, this hormone is released when the animal is cold or facing a stressful situation, preparing the animal for flight-or-fight reaction. In humans, adrenaline is often released when we feel cold or afraid, but also if we are under stress and feel strong emotions, such as anger or excitement. Other signs of adrenaline release include tears, sweaty palms, trembling hands, an increase in blood pressure, a racing heart or the feeling of 'butterflies' in the stomach.

This Independence Day was no different ….. Started with watching …. The Flag hosting by the PM at Lal Kila ….. Jana Gana Mana ….. and Army Salame Shastra followed ….

I was really shaken when my 5year son asked me to change the channel to Cartoon from the patriotic songs in DD1 ……
I decided to remind him and tell him about Gandhiji, Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose …. Heroics … what they did …. Because of which we got freedom ……. What my son said next left me Shocked for the entire day ……

He said …… Ben10 is stronger than Bhagat Singh or Gandhi, if Chota Bheem & Ben10 were the during freedom struggle … they would have just lifted the British & thrown them into space with one Hand ……
I Think its high time for us to wake up …… before these kids start saying BEN10 name as one of the freedom fighter for India …… …. Our Culture is definitely under threat …….
Lets give our kids a story each day of our Freedom struggle, the real heros like Zansi ki rani, Shivaji, Sangolli Rayanna, Sindhoora Laxmana, Madakari Nayaka, Rana Pratap …….. there is a never ending list ….

Get their history right …… write to Cartoon Network to stop rubbish programs like Krishna VS Aliens, Krishna & Balram taking on the Terrorists …….
This isn’t Generation Gap …… If the feeling of patriotism is lost then what remains is the Adeline hormone being produced for wrong reasons & giving ever more wrong results ….
Lets Wake Up ……..

PRESS RELEASE/31.7.11

SYNERGY 2011

Synergy 2011, an event conceptualized by the participants of the Self-Expression & Leadership Program of Landmark Education today, got off to an energetic start at the IAT Auditorium, Queens Road, Bangalore.  38 projects of socio-economic dimensions were kick-started, in the presence of Shri S.Harish, Deputy Mayor, BBMP, Shri Basavaraj, prominent educator, senior training leaders of Landmark Education, Shri Mahesh Nambiar & Smt. Vijayalakshmi Raaj and in the presence of more than 200 citizens of Bengaluru.

The projects cut across a cross section of areas of community work – health, education, transport, social empowerment & environment, covering diverse concerns such as auto-sharing, education of orphans, cycling to office, safety of electrical usage, awareness on kitchen herbal plants, bus-route maps at convenient locations, protection of municipal workers from toxic waste, eye donation, food-for-all, employment schemes for the disabled, insuring of the lower strata of the society, education needs of differently enabled children and various such initiatives.

Shri Harish spoke about the new initiatives that the BBMP is planning to take in areas of garbage management, curbing dog menace, using of the network of lakes of Bangalore as was existing and created by Kempe Gowda, etc.

He spoke about the initiatives taken by BBMP to improve the quality of education in municipal schools and marked improvement in the academic performance of the students, to the extent that this year, there was an increased demand for the PU admissions, resulting in not only filling up of all the seats but that they also had to turn away some parents, as against the situation earlier that some seats were remaining unfilled.

The Deputy Mayor spoke strongly about the unhygienic and unscientific way in which garbage is being disposed by households and others and the huge costs involved in transporting and handling of the same.  He informed that with proper segregation, the quantity of waste going into the municipal system could be brought down by as much as 85%, reducing costs and becoming more eco-sensitive.  He urged all citizens to co-operate with BBMP in this.

He spoke about how the introduction of LED street lights saves about 75% of the electricity costs in the ward where he is the corporator and urged the young citizens to come up with projects such as the ones which the Synergy team had come up with, to make social change required to make the city vibrant.

His message was that this is ‘Namma Bengaluru’ and we alone are responsible for improving the quality of life here by being responsible and participating citizens.

Citizens of Bengaluru widely appreciated the various projects and it was encouraging to see some teenagers and children also going through the posters and taking notes.

SYNERGY 2011
We live together as family, friends, society & community, still we think first about ourselves and then others. We always call on others to take responsibility for improving the society which we are also a part of.
Some individuals think of improving their surroundings but all alone one cannot make a change; instead if he is joined by some more like minded people, can surely make a difference.

41 of us (from different walks of life – Professionals, teachers, house wives, retired officials, yoga teachers, students, software engineers) who have powerful intentions to make a difference to the society have joined hands together to form a community of self expressive leaders and initiate activities which can really make the desirable changes to our society.

We have taken initiatives for some avenues like,
a.      The green bill - to save trees & retain the green Bangalore.
b.      Cycle day - to create pollution free environment, reduce traffic , conserve energy for us and the next generation and create a healthy community.
c.       Village libraries (knowledge for growth) - every Indian village to have a library
d.      Get lost” no more - bus route maps at all bus stops in Bangalore by 2012.
e.      Health for all - to create health for all with household  waste management
f.        Sahara - confident and  disease free life for elder citizen’s
g.      Saksham - to have a disable free society, where physically challenged people  are given industrial training to be independent.
h.      Akshaya Patra - to provide the underprivileged children a beautiful privileged tomorrow.
i.        Jeevan Rekha - save our domestic help  and in turn their family during a medical emergency
j.        Being educated - to  stop child labor   and  provide basic education  to children.
k.       Sunlight @ night - adoption of renewable sources of energy.
l.        Youth re-engagement “inventors” - to avoid drop-out of students from engineering colleges and addressing the concerns of unemployment and poverty.
m.    Adding life to storm water drains - to have a clean Bangalore
n.      Operation signal - to have  beggars free Bangalore
o.      Learning for all  - learning  is fun!! Schools are fun place!
p.      Blooming buds - creating a sustainable environment for education to create value in a child’s mind.
q.      Santhusht - every person in need lives life to his full potential
r.       “Kick the cancer” - more people live off cancer than die from it.
s.       Green corners – to spread the go green message to all.
t.        Yoga day @ bengaluru – every week Sunday - to make our world free of stress, illness and people more productive, happy and smiling.

On 31st of July Sunday, at the Institute of Agricultural Technologies (IAT) Auditorium we would like to showcase the various initiatives taken forth by us on the path, and enroll more and more people to the cause so that it gets converted to a movement and create a impact.

It is with the intention “to act now for the community”, that we request you to support us in this initiative and contribute in your own way for the cause.

The Green Bill !!!!!!!!!!

Dear Bangalorians,

This how the story starts .....

Think of one of the Sunny day in Summer ...... you are on your bike to meet some one important ... its around 1 PM . You are coming from Vijayanagar to Malleshwaram and got stuck near Majestic .... God .... its really hot , Its so hot that you are cursing yourself for wearing a black trouser and your skin is burning .... no breeze .... helmet has turned itself into pressure cooker ..... sweating every inch ..... Then the regular traffic Jam of Bangalore ..... shirt stuck to your skin .... the body trying hard to cool you off by sweating nonstop ...... traffic not moving an inch.
You are at the mercy of the crewel Sun ...... Then you scream HELL is where you are now...... I hate Bangalore ..... and these traffic Jams.....

Then the traffic slowly moves and you enter Sampige road .... WOW .... how do you feel....

One cant explain .... the Sampige road full of thick trees from each side of the road .... looks as if joined each others hand to give you that dark, thick cool shade .... you remove your helmet glass and there enters the fresh breeze soaked from each leaves of the trees .... body cools off the flow of this breeze on your sweaty skin gives you the AC effect .... sweat dries up .... ahh what a shade.... you cheer out Heaven ...... Thank god these trees are here ......

Well .... I think this story goes with most of us Bangalorians. We all have had our share of summer heat in the never ending traffics Jams of Bangalore.

Now Imagine the same story another day after couple of months ..... the same scene ... hot sunny day .... the traffic jam ..... the sweat ..... this time you are not screaming HELL .... you already know you will enter the Sampige road and cool you off ....

Traffic moves.... you enter the Sampige road .... the Sun is still burning your skin .... what the hell.....

You lift your head ..... then you scream "NOOOOOOOO" the trees are all gone ... only the dead bodies of the trees some cut from the head , some from the legs.... hands .... all scattered .....

You scream again ..... curse the people who have done it ..... your blood boils along with your body ..... then the traffic moves .... you continue in the road cross sampige road ... you still are cursing the government / BBMP every one who is responsible in killing these trees...... then you enter IISC campus ..... the trees there give the shade again and slowly your comes down.

You start thinking about the important meeting of yours .....

Next time you avoid the sampige road ..... and come by navarang ........

--------------- End of the Story --------------------------

This was every Bangalorian's story .... you can replace "You" with your name and "Sampige road" by any other road of Bangalore like "Adugodi road", Sankey road", "100 ft road", "Chord Road" ....

Because soon all these trees on the roads shall be killed in the name of developement. I had always thought of doing something about this but didn't know what .... and like any Bangalorian I was Really Busy in earning my lively hood.

Then I joined an education which altered my way of thinking and living life. It is LandMark education. I did the course and currently doing my final level of what we call Curriculum for life.

During this I really thought of doing something about it ..... I had seen the trees being cut in Audogodi road .... Trees which were more than 50 to 60 years old...... Never asked any favour from US, they found their own food, water ...... and then gave us shade, reduced noise, dust ......
But We Humans are so selfish and mean that we killed them in the name of development.

If you cant produce a full grown tree overnight then No one has a right to slaughter trees overnight ... not any Government or any one.....

With all the resistance from the Environmental activists and NGO's, citizens still the killing of these road side trees is ON ....... As recently seen in Sankey road ... the authorities were quiet till all the people resisting went home and slept, by the time people woke up The Trees were Killed, Hanged.... butcherd.

I feel unless there is a stringent Law very specific to Road Side Trees we cant fight the so called "Developement" menace.

"The Green Bill" is a community project which shall draft a specific law for road side trees and shall not only restrict the cutting of trees but will make the process of getting a permit so stringent that any agency planning to cut a tree should drop the idea and go for an alternate way.

I would request all YOU people to come out with your support and join my Community.

This project is in initial stages and I shall request all my Bangalore friends to join my community and help me to draft this Bill.

The Sole Intention is to Get a "Road Side Tree Law" for Bangalore.

You can mail me somu.sk@gmail.com
